About Us:

Eunomia is a leading, independent and ethical environmental consultancy. We are a mission-oriented business, and our goal is to be influential in bringing about positive change: we embrace this in all that we do.

We specialise in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, circular economy, low carbon energy, climate change mitigation and natural capital. With the continuous increase of environmental issues across today’s headlines, these fields are gaining momentum on a global scale and like our specialisms, we too are growing as a business. Eunomia has over 140 employees worldwide and we have offices in Bristol, London, Manchester, Brussels, Athens, New York and Auckland.

What are we looking for?:

We are recruiting for a Consultant or Senior Consultant (depending on experience) to support the growing portfolio of projects within our Local Environment Team. You will work predominantly in the areas of waste operations and resources management and be involved in multiple projects simultaneously, working predominantly to support UK Cities and local authorities in a diverse range of activities. These will range from strategic projects, such as developing waste strategies in response to new legislation and modelling the cost and performance of different waste collection schemes, through to more operationally focused projects in contract procurement and supporting the implementation of new collection schemes.

You will be flexible, comfortable under pressure, have a strong work ethic, and an ability to learn technical work in a range of areas rapidly. You will be a self-starter, highly organised, and share our commitment to a high quality of work. A personal interest in, and commitment to, environmental and sustainability issues is expected.

What will our ideal candidate have?:

·       Three (or possibly many more!) years’ experience in roles where you have engaged with issues in waste and resources management;

·       Strong technical understanding of waste operations and resources management in some areas such as (we don't expect them all!):

o   Comparing household waste collection options;

o   Local authority waste strategy;

o   Implementation of new waste collection services;

o   Waste transfer station and/or HWRC policy or design improvements;

o   Waste service efficiency improvement;

o   Impacts of partnership working in waste collection/treatment;

o   Procurement of waste management contracts (e.g. production of procurement and contract documentation, tender evaluation, commercial negotiation);

o   Commercial waste services; and

o   Waste treatment and sorting.

·       Demonstrable experience of working on projects to time, budget and client satisfaction;

·       Excellent research and data analysis skills, including manipulation of large datasets;

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills including technical report writing and client presentation.

The "icing on the cake" might be previous experience of working within consultancy and/or an understanding of local authority waste and recycling collection service delivery and/or experience of having contributed to successful business development activity.

Remuneration is flexible depending on skills and experience, and in addition to salary we have an excellent benefits package which includes free Private healthcare, an Employee assistance programme, Group pension / Life Assurance, an  Income protection scheme (after completion of probationary period) and 24 days per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days per year. An additional 5 days holiday can be purchased each year.

To Apply, in the first instance, please email / contact Neal Utting via this website, ideally attaching a CV - and outline your current situation and why you would like to explore working with Eunomia.  If you have any initial queries, you can find and message me via Linkedin.
